About Brann

I’m a father, husband, soldier, lawyer, and South Carolina native born and raised in the rural low country. I attended Furman University and immediately felt at home in the Upstate.  After college, I attended the University of South Carolina School of Law, where I met and fell in love with my wife, Becca. We both knew we wanted to be part of Greenville and made plans to return in June 2014. Shortly after our return to Greenville, Becca and I were married at Furman and have lived in the North Main Community ever since. My family and I love our town’s values and the leadership that has made Greenville what it is today.

During law school, I joined the South Carolina Army National Guard. I am an infantry officer in the Guard, where I still serve today. My service has shown me the best in our community and our country. It’s taught me not to take for granted the protections and values that we have in America and to jealously guard our freedoms. My military service has taken me overseas to Belgium, France, Egypt, Kuwait, and Iraq.  During my most recent deployment, I returned a mere 6 days before the birth of our son, Henry.

After law school, I began working as an assistant solicitor in Greenville. As a prosecutor, I saw the importance of having well-trained law enforcement officers working on a case. It is quite literally the difference between life and death. I also saw the impact that our laws have on our citizens. I have seen good laws implemented, like our updated domestic violence statute, which I know has saved lives. Likewise, I have seen bad laws passed, or more often gaps in our laws, which allow for violence to take hold in too many of our fellow citizens' lives.

After being a prosecutor, I joined a small firm practicing mainly criminal defense. Being a defense lawyer, I find myself protecting our fellow citizens from their government. I truly believe that it is just as important, if not more so, for the government to follow the law, as it is for the people. When I’m not working, you can usually find me with my family on Paris Mountain, at Community Tap, or enjoying one of the many beautiful parks in our community, and on most Sundays at Christ Church Episcopal.
